Aeroseum Flight Simulator Gothenburg: Military & Commercial Cockpits in a Cold War Bunker
Gothenburg's world-unique underground simulator hall. Take the controls of a Saab Viggen fighter jet, a commercial Airbus A300, or a multi-seat helicopter 30 meters beneath the rock.

About This Simulator
Flight Simulator Gothenburg โ Cold War Jets & Airliners at Aeroseum
Aeroseum offers one of the most historically immersive and unique public flight simulator venues in the world. Carved 30 meters beneath the surface into a massive 22,000-square-meter rock cavern, this facility was once a heavily classified, top-secret underground hangar built for the Gรถta Air Force Base (F9) during the height of the Cold War. Today, the deactivated subterranean base operates as a world-class aviation heritage center housing a dedicated “Simulator Hall”. Here, visitors can step inside authentic aircraft nose cones and fully functional cockpit replicas to test their piloting skills.
The Diverse Simulator Fleet Aeroseum completely discards the one-aircraft boutique model to offer an outstanding variety of flight experiences suited for all age groups and skill sets:
-
The Airbus A300 Simulator (350 SEK / 30 mins): The crown jewel of the hall, built seamlessly into a genuine commercial airliner cockpit shell. It utilizes a 180-degree wrap-around visual horizon and is flown strictly via manual handling under the 1-on-1 guidance of a museum flight instructor (No autopilot permitted!).
-
The Boeing 737 Simulator: A pro-grade fixed-base commercial jetliner device optimized for desktop flyers and hardcore simulation enthusiasts.
-
The Saab Viggen Simulators (75 SEK โ 150 SEK / 30 mins): Military aviation purists can climb inside the authentic fuselage sections of Sweden’s iconic Cold War supersonic strike fighter. The venue hosts multiple Viggen rigs, including a specialized “Superviggen” option for advanced flight dynamics and the “TAS 37” simulator, which is fully modified for wheelchair accessibility.
-
General Aviation & Helicopters (50 SEK โ 100 SEK / 30 mins): Families and casual flyers can command an SK 61 Bulldog propeller trainer, a Comanche trainer (excellent for children), or a multi-crew Helicopter cockpit complete with a specialized 150-degree forward and downward viewing system to practice complex low-altitude hover maneuvers.
Booking System & Museum Admission The simulators are managed directly inside the underground complex. Casual simulators (Bulldog, Viggen, Comanche, and Helicopter) are booked on-site upon arrival on a first-come, first-served basis. However, the flagship Airbus A300 and Boeing 737 setups require advance scheduling via the centerโs digital portal or telephone lines.
Simulator fees are kept highly budget-friendly but are charged independently of standard museum entrance tickets (Admission is approximately 160 SEK for adults and 80 SEK for youth). Beyond the simulator controls, your ticket grants complete freedom to walk among authentic vintage military fighter jets, explore Cold War spy exhibits, and check out decommissioned rescue helicopters.
Plan Your Visit Aeroseum is open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM throughout the week. The premier Airbus A300 cockpit features guaranteed instructor staffing on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, though additional times can be coordinated for private corporate bookings. The underground base is situated at Sรคve Depรฅ on the outskirts of Gothenburg. It is easily reached via local public transportation by jumping on the regional Vรคsttrafik buses toward Sรคve Airport. Expansive, on-site outdoor vehicle parking is available directly above the bunker doors.
