About This Simulator
Flight Simulator Calgary — Boeing 737, F-18, F-16 Viper & Spitfire VR at Altitude Flight Simulation
Altitude Flight Simulation is Calgary’s original and premier flight simulation centre, offering four completely different aviation experiences under one roof — a full-scale Boeing 737 airliner cockpit, F-18 Super Hornet fighter jet simulators for head-to-head dogfighting, an F-16 Viper simulator for the most demanding combat pilot experience, and a fully immersive Spitfire VR combat experience. Open to all ages with no experience required, the centre has built a passionate following in the Alberta aviation community, consistently earning top reviews for the quality of the simulators, the enthusiasm of the instructors, and the sheer variety of experiences on offer.
Located in northeast Calgary off 32nd Avenue NE, Altitude Flight Simulation serves individuals, families, couples, corporate groups, birthday parties, and team building events. Summer Aviation Camps for young enthusiasts are also available, making it one of the most comprehensive public flight simulation venues in western Canada.
Boeing 737 Simulator — Full Airliner Experience
The Boeing 737 simulator at Altitude Flight Simulation is a full-scale replica of the real aircraft flight deck — an exact copy of the 737 cockpit with all instruments, controls, and systems operational. A personal instructor guides you through every phase of the flight, from engine start and taxi through takeoff, cruise, and landing. You can fly gate-to-gate from any airport in the world, choosing your departure, destination, weather conditions, and time of day.
Tripadvisor reviewers who are actual pilots consistently note how realistic the simulation is — one described it as “like nothing else we’ve ever flown” after flying the one-hour family package. The instructor remains with you throughout the entire session, helping with throttle settings, flap configurations, autopilot, and any other aspect of the flight, making the experience genuinely educational as well as thrilling. The Family Package allows a second person to fly for a small additional charge — ideal for parent-child sessions.
F-18 Super Hornet — Dogfighting for Up to 4 Players
The F-18 Super Hornet experience at Altitude is built for competition. With multiple simulators available simultaneously, groups of friends, families, and corporate teams can fly against each other in real-time air-to-air combat — carrier launches, dogfights, ground attack missions, and aerobatics. The briefing covers the basics of fighter pilot tactics before you climb into the cockpit and take on your opponents.
Reviews consistently highlight the F-18 experience as perfect for groups — three generations of one family competing against each other, corporate teams battling for supremacy, and couples discovering a surprising competitive streak. The Top Gun experience is one of the most popular packages at the centre and the most frequently booked for group events.
F-16 Viper Simulator — The Viper Bites
The F-16 Viper takes the fighter jet experience to its most demanding level. Where the F-18 Hornet may sting, the Viper bites — faster, more agile, and more unforgiving than its twin-engine counterpart. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is one of the most widely operated multirole fighters in the world, flown by the USAF Thunderbirds demonstration team and air forces across NATO. At Altitude Flight Simulation, the Viper simulator delivers the full F-16 experience — high-G manoeuvres, supersonic flight, air combat, and precision ground attack missions. Available solo or competitively, it is the natural choice for participants who have already flown the F-18 and want to push their skills further.
Spitfire VR — WW2 Aerial Combat
The Spitfire VR simulator puts you in the virtual cockpit of iconic WW2 aircraft — including the Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, and Me-262 — for fully immersive aerial combat missions. Flying through legendary WW2 scenarios in complete virtual reality, this experience offers something completely different from the modern airliner and fighter jet simulators and has particular appeal for history enthusiasts and older visitors wanting to experience the aircraft of their grandparents’ era. Three generations can battle against each other in the same session — one of the most unique multi-generational experiences available in Calgary.
Summer Aviation Camps
Altitude Flight Simulation runs Summer Aviation Camps for young aviation enthusiasts, with 2026 registration now open. Camps combine simulator flying with aviation education, giving young participants a structured introduction to flight, aircraft systems, and pilot procedures guided by experienced instructors. An outstanding school holiday activity for children and teenagers interested in aviation careers or simply passionate about aircraft.
Corporate and Group Events
The entire facility can be booked for private events — corporate team building days, birthday parties, seminars, and workshops. Catering arrangements can be made for group bookings. The multi-simulator format makes Altitude particularly well-suited to competitive group formats, with the fighter jet simulators providing a natural competitive centrepiece for any event.
